I have another week off after Christmas. I went to Lia's house (my LC's) to spend the nights. This family really loves animals. They have a Barn not far from their house full of horses cats and donkeys. The first day I went there they were busy in their Barn. They just rescued a horse!
Wow, this was my first time knowing about rescuing horse. Of course this wasn’t theirs. They have been doing it many times. Some of horses that they kept now also come from rescued.
I don’t know why but I have a nice feeling knowing people love animals this much. The horse looked bad when I first saw it in the truck. They said they found it lying down in the rain. Oh..how poor. She was just about 6 months old.
They prepared a room for her, I helped as I could. She was wet, her skin is cold ice when I touched. We gave her blankets. We tried to dry her with the blow driers. Lia and her mom (Ms.D/my LC) were doing it when we start this conversation:
Lia’s sister: Who’s her name mom?
Ms.D: I don’t know yet. She is a survivor.
Lia’s sister: yes, she is.
Ms.D: What an Indonesian name for survivor?
Me and Lia: mm.. (?)
Lia: What is it Annisa?
Me: wait I’m thinking now..
Lia: *thinking
Me: oh..I know! Tangguh! How about that? *grin
Lia: ah yes!
Ms.D: what again?
Lia: Tangguh mom.
Ms.D: is that like a survivor?
Me: Kinda. Tangguh means strong, tough..
Lia: yes, so it can be like a survivor.
Ms.D: okay. Let’s call her Tangguh!
Me and Lia: yeeiy!
Ms.D: how to spell it?
Lia: T-A-N-G-G-U-H
Ms.D: okay. Tangguh..tangguh..pretty good he?
Me: yes, ma’am *grin
Hahay! We got Indonesian horse right there now. So glad to know her name between those horses. We were happy that Ms.D let us give a name for her.
She was getting better. Her skin was dry and she was warm. Ms.D gave her maple syrup so she could get some energy. Cause she was not moving at all before, just stay still. Her eyes were open though. She didn’t move her mouth either so Ms.D had to open it to give the syrup. They really take care of her. We were there for pretty long time.
Suddenly she moved her head, gosh! She was about to stand up. How great!
We were all glad to know that. She kept trying to stand up while they were helping her.
Me, Lia and her sisters come back home to cook dinner. The adults still stayed there to make sure Tangguh was okay and ready to be left.
We cooked spaghetti. We ate dinner first because they were still in the Barn.
I was thinking about how great this day is. Having a new experience of rescuing a horse and gave an Indonesian name. That horse was really sick, and they wanted to save her life. I’m imagining if one day when I already get back to Indonesia and call Ms.D, asking about how’s Tangguh now? Aww..how cute! *grin
We were just chatting and watchin’ movie when the telephone rang. Lia’s brother answered it. He was yelling right after the telephone cut out.
What happened?
We were wondering..
Then he
said, “The horse died”
What?
How come??
For real?!
But she looked fine.
She looked as if she’s getting better.
How come??
For real?!
But she looked fine.
She looked as if she’s getting better.
O my God..
...................
We just
start to love her. I do too. It might be strange but that’s what I feel.
Maybe she
was too in pain. Maybe it was the best, she’s just..too young.
But I’m
glad get to know her.
We love you, Tangguh! :)
